Daisy-related trivia and other Bank holiday stuff
I've been taking a few days off since the election last Thursday, taking time out to thanks helpers and supporters, visiting the fine CAMRA Reading Beer and Cider Festival, and catching up on much needed sleep.
With luck, normal (campaigning) service will be resumed in the next week or so.
Anyway, an email popped into my inbox at the weekend which made me laugh:
"Dear Daisy,
Have you been through the Oracle recently? They have a "green" campaign on at the moment - "It's not all Daisy's fault" (Daisy being a cartoon Friesian cow).
In Reading, if someone talks about "Daisy", the first thing that springs to mind is Cllr. Daisy Benson. If you believe you have a case for Defamation of Character against the Oracle, I will be glad to appear in court on your behalf."
The email was from my good friend David Boobier, the redoubtable Chair of the Katesgrove Residents' Association. We are both members of the Safer Reading Campaign as well as being regulars in The Retreat pub.
Today I joined Gareth Epps (my partner) and newly-elected Councillor for Katesgrove, Warren Swaine. at the KRA's May Fayre. This is a fantastic community event which is held every year at the Waterloo Meadows Centre.
This picture is of Warren giving it some welly in the 'Whack a Rat' game (who can he have been thinking of!?). This game replaced the ever-popular, "Throw a sponge at your local Councillor" game which had been ditched this year for some reason!
Katesgrove ward borders Redlands (the boundaries are Northumberland Avenue and Kendrick Road)
