A few weeks ago, Kirsten highlighted the problems caused by renovations of properties in the University area during the summer months.
Today I went for my regular ward walk and found Granby Gardens and Donnington Road particularly badly affected by this phenomenon with skips and bags of builders rubbish blocking up the highway and causing an unnecessary eyesore.
I spoke to a local resident who was understandly peeved about the problem - the area outside his property had been a building site for over a month! Not acceptable when the public highway is rendered out of action to pedestrians and drivers.
Sadly, I found today that the problem of bulky waste dumped in front gardens is still a major issue on roads off Addington Road i.e. Hatherley Road, Blenheim Gardens and Donnington Gardens.
I emailed a long list of all the properties which have been used as a dumping ground to Council officers and urged them to raise these issues with landlords where possible.
We will of course continue to press the Council to take action to stop landlords and others running down this lovely area. Email me if you come across any such problems in your neighbourhood.
Other bread and butter issues I picked up this afternoon on my walking tour included damaged road signs, potholes and graffiti on London Road, Blenheim Gardens, Cardigan Road and Erleigh Road.
Oh well, all in a day's work for the Redlands Focus Team - campaigning all year round (including Sundays in August when most of the world seems to be on holiday...)
