Following my post yesterday about issues with the call centre, I've had a response from Council officers about the vandalised garage:
'the garage officer has visited the site today. It is Garage 12 that has been broken into. She has asked repairs to go out tomorrow morning...to clear the garage and board it up. If we have a new door in stock we will be able to complete the repair in c. two - four weeks. However it usually takes up to 6 weeks for a new door if we do not have one in stock that can fit the existing frame.'
The officer continued by saying that the staff would 'check and clear anything on top of the (garage) roof tomorrow.'
Interestingly, following our meeting with officers last week about parking problems on Hexham estate officers visiting the area about the garage issue observed that:
'There are also a few parked cars on the forecourt (of Bede Walk)...they are not allowed to park there, so this will be taken further.'
Good to see they finally noticed!
I'm pleased to say that senior officers have also pledged to carry out a full investigation to why emails and phone calls about this issue went unanswered for so long.
So, progress of sorts.
