I have received a response today from the Chief Executive of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, in response to my campaign to reduce cigarette-related litter at public entrances to the Hospital.
In her letter, the Chief Executive, outlines that the following actions have been taken in response to my campaign:-
- Estates Department staff are now sweeping the Trust-owned road area up to the Trust's boundary with the public roadway at the Redlands Road entrance, and around the main entrance on Craven Road.
- Signage displayed in the area affected has been reviewed.
- A meeting between the Trust and the Council's Streetcare Department was held earlier in the month to discuss waste issues in general, including pavement cleaning issues.
I am pleased to hear that the Trust's management have acknowledged there is a litter problem, and have demonstrated a willingness to do something about it (in conjunction with the Council). I am disappointed however that the Trust has not seen fit to install cigarette bins at entrances.
