A constituent contacted me yesterday evening requesting my help with a rather unfortunate matter. Some youths had apparently cut a hole in the fence that separates the public footpath linking Cintra Park with Newcastle Road, from the allotments. My constituent had reported the issue to the Council two weeks ago but no action had been taken.
Once the vandals had gained entry to the allotments, they proceeded to cause damage to a shed in one of the allotments and to steal some garden tools. The tools were found discarded near by, but my constituent was obviously distressed about this intrusion and damage to his property.
I wrote to the Council as soon as I heard about the problem and I'm pleased to say a member of the Parks team responded today saying that the hole will be repaired and the area monitored, which is reassuring.
