Back in May I blogged about the problems some constituents on Hexham Road were facing...with pigeons.
Residents in one of the blocks of flats on the estate contacted me to complain about the noise and mess pidgeons have been causing.
I have been campaigning to get the Council to take this problem seriously and to sort out this nuisance which is taking place on RBC property.
Quite rightly, RBC Tenants would like to see this sorted before the Council even thinks about charging them for RBC cleaning services!
Well, the nagging seems to have paid off as the Council issued a press release today to say that for the second time this year hawks are being introduced on to the estate this week to scare the pidgeons off.
This is only a shorterm solution and needs to take place more than once or twice a year if it is going to be effective.
A firm called Hawkforce will be leading the event and there will also be a display of other birds of prey including owls on the estate. Residents will be also able to get there photos taken with the birds.
This event is due to take place this Wednesday between 10am and 12pm outside Hexham Community Centre.
I am hoping to make it along on Wednesday (unless I'm snowed in!)
