We have had a number of calls regarding the travellers encamped on the lawns at Cintra Avenue.
We have been in touch with Council officers who advise:
"Parks officers from the Council have attended site and served notice upon the travellers to vacate the site immediately. … If the group grows in size to more than 6 vehicles the police have indicated that they will use their section 61 powers to move them on - but this is unlikely to happen until Monday when available staff resources permit.
Should the group not grow in size Reading Borough Council will be required to obtain a court order in order to regain possession of the land and evict the travellers. Legal services have been advised of this and are on standby to proceed should this be required."
We will encourage a speedy resolution of this issue.
